A total of 24,838 Tlaxcaltecas participated in the Macro Simulacro Nacional, organized by the State Coordination of Civil Protection (CEPC) in order to strengthen the action protocols and remember the victims of the earthquakes of September 19, 1985 and 2017.
In the Government Palace, at 1:16 p.m., emergency protocols were activated by a hypothetical earthquake of magnitude 7.2 with an epicenter in Acatlán de Osorio, Puebla.
Joaquín Pluma Morales, head of the CEPC, announced that 636 public servants evacuated in an orderly manner the offices of the Government Palace in a time of one minute 44 seconds.
Pluma Morales explained that 540 people were also evacuated from the General Hospitals of Tlaxcala, Children and Women, and simultaneously participated in this preventive exercise called by the National Coordination of Civil Protection, state agencies, municipalities, educational institutions and establishments commercial.
The state official stressed that the CEPC will continue with the development of activities to improve response times and sensitize the Tlaxcalans on the importance of being prepared in case of any contingency.
It is worth mentioning that in the Macro Simulacro Nacional in the state participated the Secretaries of Government, Health, Tourism, Planning and Finance, Public Policies and Citizen Participation, in addition to the Regulatory Center of Medical Emergencies of Tlaxcala (Crumt), members of the 23 Military Zone , Red Cross and Civil Protection of the municipalities of Panotla and Totolac.
As part of the National Simulation Macro, attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims left by the 1985 and 2017 earthquakes.
In this way, it seeks to improve planning, coordination and communication between different sectors of society to respond effectively to natural phenomena.
